2027: APC Governors Back Tinubu With 10.99 Million Votes
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election after winning the party’s nationwide direct primary with 10,999,162 votes.
Tinubu defeated his only challenger, businessman Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,503 votes during the exercise held across 8,809 wards nationwide.
The President recorded massive support across many states, including Lagos, Adamawa, Kaduna, Imo, Kano, Katsina, and Gombe, showing strong dominance within the party structure.
Speaking after receiving the APC flag and Certificate of Return in Abuja, Tinubu said Nigerians should not allow opposition parties “without a clear vision” to take the country backward. He promised to continue his administration’s reforms if re-elected in 2027.
The President highlighted achievements in education loans, power supply, infrastructure, oil and gas reforms, and economic policies. He also admitted that many Nigerians still face economic hardship and rising living costs but assured citizens that his government was working to improve conditions.
Tinubu called for national unity and pledged to strengthen security, improve infrastructure, boost industrialisation, and create more opportunities for young people and businesses.
Meanwhile, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described the presidential primary as a “dress rehearsal” for victory in the 2027 elections, insisting that no opposition party could match the APC’s nationwide strength.
Attention has now shifted to the African Democratic Congress presidential primary, where former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayattu-Deen are contesting for the party’s ticket.

Tinubu Crushes APC Primary With Nearly 11 Million Votes Ahead of 2027 Battle
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tightened his grip on Nigerian politics after securing a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary, pulling an overwhelming 10.99 million votes nationwide.
His challenger, Stanley Osifo, barely made an impact with just over 16,000 votes, while Tinubu dominated almost every region of the country in what party leaders called a political show of force ahead of 2027.
From Lagos to Kano, Adamawa to Imo, the APC machinery delivered massive numbers for the President, signaling that the ruling party is already fully mobilized for the next general election.
At the presentation of his Certificate of Return in Abuja, Tinubu fired direct political shots at the opposition, warning Nigerians against trusting parties without a “clear alternative vision.” He defended his economic reforms, subsidy removal, and currency policies, insisting that difficult decisions were necessary to rebuild the economy.
The President also highlighted achievements in student loans, electricity metering, road construction, and increased foreign investment, while promising stronger security and more economic growth if given another four-year mandate.
Despite public complaints over inflation and hardship, Tinubu maintained that Nigeria was moving in the right direction and said his administration would not slow down on reforms.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described the primary as a warning to rival parties, boasting that the turnout was only a “preview” of what Nigerians would witness during the 2027 election.
Meanwhile, political tension is now shifting to the African Democratic Congress, where heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi are battling for the opposition ticket in what could become one of Nigeria’s biggest political showdowns in recent history.
